Hi folks! My next show is quickly coming up at Peninsula Gallery – Canada opening Saturday, August 29th and I’ll be in the gallery from 1-3pm if you’d like to stop by and say hi! The show runs from Aug 29th to Sept 17th.
This is one of several new paintings I’ve been creating for this show, titled: Wild Roses. This is one of several paintings that take you on a walk through a blooming garden filled with life and sunlight, finding different flowers and garden friends along the way. Combining representation and abstraction, I’ve expanded my ball and block motif into the realm of flora and fauna and it’s been a lot of fun!
Wild Roses, 30 x 40 inches, acrylic on canvas
I really like the way you combine representation and abstraction in these paintings. As a painter, I find that space between the recognizable and the unexpected particularly interesting. Sometimes a painting becomes much more alive when we allow colour and form to move a little beyond what we actually see. Beautiful work.
Andy Renard
Hi Andy, thank you. I agree, it’s been a good creative challenge moving between the two and finding a nice tension to work with.
