A Matter of Perspective

Most days in the studio boil down to one question for me: will it be the tiny brush or the big brush first? Will the day start with the cultivation of a miniature world or the abstraction of an observation? And sometimes the answer is: no brush. Instead, a walk, a course of errands, a pattern of bricks in a sidewalk, a conversation with a friend will fill the well of being-ness that I need to create.

My new painting titled “The Bridge” represents the crossing over to something different, something important perhaps, or safe passage through an uncertainty. This piece speaks to me personally as I enter my 25th year of painting miniatures and feel the pull to pursue new creative ideas. It isn’t always easy to cross into new territory and keep your footing, but sometimes it’s necessary to try – if for no other reason than to view more clearly, where you’ve been.

  1. A very good morning to you, Tiffany:

As always, my wife and I enjoy seeing your artistic creations.

During our winter, it has been too cold for me to be out in our garage for any significant length of time, to work on small stone sculptures with my hand tools. I have not been painting for a long time and hope to return to this enjoyable medium.

In the past, I enjoyed providing publicity photos for the Matzke Gallery here on Camano Island until I got a hard hacking which I found most disturbing. My PayPal account was also hacked and I’ve closed this payment method. Presently, I am slowly removing the hundreds of past photos I had loaded into FaceBook in order to preserve the safety of the art for artists represented at the gallery. Once all past photos have been deleted, I hope to return to FaceBook, however, will only allow any photos to be posted for one month before they are removed.

Over the many past years, my wife and I have enjoyed frequent visits to Victoria, BC, and would like to return this Spring. We are saddened by the deplorable tariffs of this unfortunate administration.

Kindest wishes that you are in good health.

    1. Hi Jerry,

Thanks you and I’m very glad to hear you’ll be maybe picking up the brush again!

I am sorry to hear about the photo/hacking situation though, that is most unfortunate and no doubt, extremely frustrating. You raise a good point that one can never be too cautious with pics, I remind myself of that too.

I sincerely hope that you and your wife will make it up this way again soon! It’s so lovely on the island in spring, and particularly in May.

I hope things will eventually settle down and we can all move forward again! Thank you so much for your kind message,

      Take care!
      Tiffany
