Cracked Up – A sandstone drawing

This drawing was inspired by a trip to Newcastle Island, where unusual sandstone formations make up much of the fascinating shoreline. There was a long crack running width-wise  through this large rock, revealing patterned layers of stone and debris. Perfect inspiration for a doodle drawing!

I have yet to colour this piece, but I’m thinking a monochromatic approach would be interesting, or maybe something else? What will you do?
